Just 2 km off the coast of Bonifacio, on the southern tip of Corsica, lies the island of Cavallo. It belongs to the Lavezzi archipelago. Thanks to its dreamy landscapes, it is considered by many to be a little paradise on earth, inspiring numerous authors and writers. However, this paradise comes at a price, as the island is home to a number of sumptuous villas belonging to celebrities and other wealthy personalities, hence its nickname of “Billionaires’ Island”. Cavallo can be reached by boat from Bonifacio or Porto Vecchio, for example. Yachts can moor on the island’s many beautiful beaches and coves. But you can also arrive by jet, thanks to the island’s only airfield. Quiet strolls allow you to admire the unique, protected landscapes. Remember to bring your cameras to capture them. The best views are to be found at Palma, Zeri, Double and Greco, where fine sandy beaches and turquoise waters meet. Yachting, sailing, diving and snorkeling excursions are also a delight for thrill-seekers. It’s hard not to mention the Golf de Spérone, designed by Robert Trent Jones himself. The 135-hectare, 18-hole course is one of the finest in the world.

You can also take advantage of your summer getaway on Cavallo Island to visit the Lavezzi islands of Piana and Lavezzo, as well as other heavenly spots such as Cap Sperone and Ciappili. The island’s hotel also offers tennis lessons and electric car rental (vehicle traffic is prohibited) for exploring the reserve. You can round off your day with generous seafood platters or gourmet dishes in the restaurant.
