Quantcast

Architect-designed villa and wilderness, let’s discover Aurore’s favorite!

As soon as I turn onto the private road leading to Capu di Fora, another Corsica opens up to me. The road climbs over the peaks of the cape, offering a marvellous panorama. At the end of the road, a steep descent lies before me, and I tell myself that to take advantage of such an exceptional situation, I must overcome a few obstacles. I’m immediately won over by the authenticity of the place – villa CORVEC072 is nestled in the maquis, where aromatic herbs and juniper and pistachio shrubs are gently worked by a hand as skilful as it is respectful. The house blends into the natural setting, almost hiding in it, as if it didn’t want to disturb the nature that surrounds it. At the entrance, a narrow corridor forced me to wait to find out more, reminding me of the passageway to a cave where you stretch your neck impatient to find out what’s hidden in the next room. The large space, distributed between the living room, dining room and kitchen, is imbued with an atmosphere that invites sharing and conviviality. As soon as I enter the room, I’m immediately captivated by the view and drawn like a magnet to the terrace. The master bedroom has been designed so that, comfortably installed on the bed, we can peacefully savor the changing light on the sea and vegetation as we admire a painting where the master is constantly adding a brushstroke.

The first outbuilding is reminiscent of childhood tales, Peter Pan’s bedroom, where you immediately feel at ease and can already see children playing and teenagers remembering that they’re still a little child. From the entrance, a few steps lead up to the second annex. The bedroom is a haven of peace overlooking the sea, ideal for a romantic getaway. Maurice and Sylvie Sauzet have succeeded in their gamble of stirring the senses, and every space is charged with emotion. The house is furnished with both objects full of history and souvenirs of travels, harmoniously brought together in an equally unique place (fabrics from India, ceramics from Italy, glassware from Murano) with great respect for the craftsmanship and quality of the objects handcrafted with noble materials.the hammocks hanging from the arbutus and juniper trees invite you to rest and explore not only the maquis but also yourself. If you’re looking for an introduction to Zen Buddhism, this is the place for you.

From the house, I follow a path and steps through sea buckthorn, wild lavender and immortelle bushes to reach a path that runs along the coast. I descend another small staircase of skilfully carved stones and after a few meters I cross the customs path and reach the cove of the villa below. The pebble beach with its tiny sandy area for the little ones, a 2-seater kayak and a hammock hanging from a tamarisk tree are all clues that I’ve arrived at the right place. I decide to continue my exploration by taking the customs path again and heading towards the tip of the peninsula facing the island of Pinarello, where you will find one of the region’s best beaches. On the summit of the island, the square Tour Génoise stands proudly in front of me. I would have liked to walk the 30 metres or so that separate me from the island (in about 1 m of water) and explore the maquis, but I had to get back home to tell you all about it.
