The day’s program includes relaxation, swimming in the large pool and contemplation. At the heart of the Hellenic world, Santorini (Σαντορίνη), is a well-guarded pearl. Our charming residences, located in the most privileged spots, are safe from tourists and noisy hotels. Take advantage of a gentle breeze to admire the ball of sailboats sailing from island to island on the strength of the wind. Sunset is a privileged moment at the end of the day that’s impossible to miss. The view of the white houses, the beautiful islands around Santorini and the idyllic beaches are all yours to enjoy.
Santorini is the largest and most populous island in the Cyclades. It is shaped like a crescent moon because it is actually the crater of a volcano that was partly covered by the sea following a volcanic eruption around 1,600 BC. Bus, boat, scooter… it’s easy to get around Greece, and even from one island to another. There’s no need to plan far in advance: you can pick up your boat ticket on the day itself, right at the port. Depending on the time of year you plan to travel in Greece, the transport budget can be high.
In terms of places to discover, you can start with Santorini’s main town, Fira. Also known as Thira, this cluster of white houses and blue domes is a must-see when visiting Santorini. There are also a number of interesting museums. At the foot of the cable car, the museum traces Santorini’s antiquities back thousands of years.
In the south of the volcanic island of Santorini, you’ll find Red Beach, which will win you over with its beauty and contrast of blue, black and red rock.
The beach is secluded, with no stores or cheap straw huts. All you have to do is make the most of the weather and take a break on the cliffs overlooking the turquoise-blue waters. Opposite is the island of Néa Kaméni, an ancient crater in the center of Santorini’s caldera. You can get up early and set off to conquer this rock made of lava rock. From the top, you will have a breathtaking view of the main island of Santorini.
Greece is also the home of gastronomy. On the menu is a delicious Tzatziki. It’s thick yogurt made from sheep’s milk, grated or pureed cucumbers and a choice of sauces.
Then, of course, there’s the classic Greek salad made with feta cheese, black olives, green peppers and parsley. Perhaps you’ve heard of tarama. A dish typical of the Cyclades islands, it consists of cod roe with milk and lemon. For dessert, you can eat Amygdalotá. Take almonds, grind them to a powder, add powdered sugar, vanilla, well-beaten egg yolk and semolina. Then roll them into balls and put them in the oven, guaranteed success.
